Free Back-to-School Activities for Elementary Students
Abcya: These FREE activities can be used to target articulation, language, and fluency goals. For preschool children who are working on expanding their utterances or vocabulary, they can use activities such as Make a Backpack to request the “red cherries” or say “Can I have a rocket?”
- Make a Backpack (PreK-2nd) – great for describing, following directions
- Dress for the Weather (K-2nd) – use for requesting and expressive language
Hidden Pictures: These FREE activities can be used to play “I Spy” to work on vocabulary and describing. “I spy a green fruit.” You can also have fun finding the target items that the children describe, “It is on the front of the bus.”

Pink Cat Games: PinkCatGames.com has a variety of themed activities that are perfect for speech therapy teletherapy sessions. You can address articulation, language, fluency, or use the games for general reinforcement activities. It is great for preschool through middle school. Just be sure the select age-appropriate games. Quia.com: Suitable for K-12th grade. With FREE access, you can use the “shared activities,” or you can purchase a paid subscription to create your own activities. There are currently 728 activities for Speech and Language Therapy. I like using the free shared language activities, such as synonyms, antonyms, vocabulary, and multiple meaning words. Some of my favorite articulation activities include battleship, challenge board (similar to jeopardy), and word search. Here’s a specific back-to-school themed activity for you to try out the website:

Super Teacher Worksheets: These can be used for your students working on articulation, language, and fluency.
