50+ Fall-Themed Telepractice Activities

As we usher in the Fall season, let’s harness the vibrant themes of this season to inspire engaging lessons for the children we serve. This post contains more than 50 Fall-themed telepractice activities for you to use with your early intervention, preschool and school-aged children.

Please note that I do not receive any commissions if you choose to use or subscribe to any of the websites in this post (with the exception of www.telepracticetools.com and the Telepractice Tools stores on Boom Learning℠ and Teachers Pay Teachers). While many of these are FREE materials readily available to everyone on the worldwide web, you may need to create an account to access some activities if you do not already have one (e.g., Boom Learning℠).

Before we get to the list, here are a couple quick tips:

  1. Use CTRL+F (Windows) or COMMAND+F (Mac) to quickly search for your desired grade level in this post. Enter your grade level or goal area, and all of the activities that match your search on this page will be highlighted. Enjoy!
  2. If you need stimulus items to accompany any of the general reinforcers, I like to use www.homespeechhome.com or their mobile World Vault app.
  3. Here is a list of my top five favorite websites for finding themed activities any time of year.

Top Five Websites for Themed Telepractice Activities

Abcya.com

This website includes a variety of activities for kids in grades Pre-K through middle school. To search, first, select the student’s grade. Then select the activity. You can also “jump to” certain types of activities on the page by clicking one of the buttons at the top of the page: Letters, Numbers, Holiday, Strategy or Skill. My favorite categories are “Holiday” and “Skill Games.” Most holidays have a crossword puzzle or word search activity that is one of my favorites for addressing vocabulary, grammar and articulation for school-age children.

Boom Cards

This website includes interactive telepractice games for a variety of goal areas. You can create your own, purchase activities made by others, or play free speech therapy activities. Search “Speech Therapy” and use keywords to find activities. You can save your favorites to your library for easy reference. If you need step-by-step instructions for getting started with Boom CardsTM, read our related blog post, Boom Cards Simplified.

Education.com

This website includes a lot of English Language Arts (ELA) games and worksheets, which are also perfect speech therapy activities for elementary students. You can search by grade, subject, topic, or common core standard. You can also create your own worksheets, such as word search, crossword puzzle, matching lists, and word scrambles. There is a sale on monthly and annual plans right now, which gives you access to all of the activities and worksheets on the website.

SuperTeacherWorksheets.com

This website has worksheets with a variety of ELA activities. I like to use the reading comprehension worksheets, as they include multiple choice questions and other activities at the end of each story. You can search by grade, ELA area, or common core standard. There are a few free downloads for each grade level, or you can purchase an annual subscription. With the subscription comes the ability to generate your own worksheets. Some worksheets are intended to be printed and used in a face-to-face interaction, but most can be modified for a telepractice session (e.g., instead of “cutting and gluing”, you can have the student write or draw in their own words and pictures).

Woo Jr. Mad Libs

Since Wacky Web Tales shut down, this is now my go-to alternative for online “mad libs.” This site has a wide variety of themes, which allows students to create their own stories. You will need to download the worksheets, then share your screen during your telepractice sessions. Students start by selecting the words that will be plugged into the story. This is the perfect opportunity to have the child select words with their articulation sound targets or expand their vocabulary.

Preschool Fall Speech Therapy Telepractice Activities

Fall Themed Lesson Plans for Preschool and Early Intervention. The eight themes included are: Moon, Apples, Pumpkins, Leaves, Fall, Turkeys, Thanksgiving, and Fall harvest. Each of the fall themed lesson plans follow the following format:

  1. Read a book
  2. Watch a video
  3. Activity to elicit language
  4. Parent/e-helper coaching
